Had to take up this issue, though it’s not in my nature, for Jamnagar’s good: Parimal Nathwani

Gandhinagar: Parimal Nathwani, Group President of RIL and three-term Rajya Sabha member has his heart in his native place and karmabhoomi Jamnagar. He has recently taken up the issue of law and order in Jamnagar district in a set of three tweets while welcoming new Superintendent of Police (SP) of Jamnagar district, IPS Deepan Bhadran. After his four tweets on two different occasions recently and transfer of district SP, local media has also taken interest in covering the Jamnagar story, in which a red corner tagged, Interpol listed, wanted mafia Jayesh Patel alias Jaysukh Ranpariya’s terror and local political nexuses occupy core place. Nathwani was today interviewed by a leading Gujarati news TV channel. Following are the highlights of his replies:

If Police decides, it can do it, but it hasn’t happened so far

It wasn’t like previous SPs were not working, but day-by-day Jayesh Patel and his team would increasingly harass the people. And there were number of such incidents. Any businessman who would get richer, would start getting threats. Local persons would work as executors for such tasks and they would also pass on tip off that such and such persons have made money and become richer. There are 41 complaints pending against Jayesh Patel (alias Jaysukh Ranpariya) and there’s no solution. It’s happening for long time, but police hasn’t taken required sufficient actions. Police is capable to bring results. If Police decides it can do it. But it has not happened so far.

I have taken up this issue, though it’s not in my nature

With Deepan Bhadran’s appointment as Superintendent of Police in Jamnagar, I have high hopes that businessmen and traders who are living under fear but aren’t able to express their voice will finally get justice. And in this backdrop only, I have taken up this issue, through it’s not in my nature. I have made representation in the Government of Gujarat and also in the office of Prime Minister. I thought I should tell and therefore I told. It’s not personal. It’s about the atmosphere of fear in Jamnagar like never before.

Goons belong to no community; They try to take shelter in the name of community

When it comes to community twist that is being given to this issue, I must say that criminals don’t belong to any particular community. They have no community belonging. Whether it’s about Jayesh Patel or any other person, goons have no community. They attempt to take shelter in the name of community. A criminal is criminal. Whether he is from Lohana or Durbar or Brahmin or any caste. Politics comes when approach is caste linked.

Range must support Bhadran

My tweet (regarding Range IG Sandip Singh) was only to convey that, when Bhadran saheb has arrived here (as SP Jamnagar), the range must support him.

Haven’t singled out any individual; It’s only about law and order situation

I have not quoted him (MoS Hakubha Jadeja) anywhere in my remarks. I speak about fear that has gripped the business community. I speak about protection of business community. I have voiced peoples’ concern. Truth will come out. I am going to speak lot of things at proper occasion. I have not singled out any individual in my remarks. My concern is only regarding law and order situation.
