Interview published in local English tabloid a fiction, I never had this conversation: CR Patil

Ahmedabad: Ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president in Gujarat and Member of Parliament from Navsari Lok Sabha seat in Surat, CR Patil today expressed surprise over his interview published in a local English tabloid on 3rd October and said he never had that conversation at all!

Terming the article as fictitious, Patil tweeted: Such are the times we live in that now newspapers are giving fiction writers a run for their money. Surprised to see my interview published in Ahmedabad Mirror as a free-wheeling chat. Only issue: I never had this conversation 🙂

The interview was published across two pages including cover page as exclusive freewheeling chat in Times of India group’s tabloid brand on 3rd October.

Meanwhile, the journalist, Editor of the newspaper who said she conducted an interview tweeted videos of taking interview of Patil.
She said: Gujarat BJP President CR Patil ji either is an amnesiac or a liar. He refuses to have ever met me or given an interview. He owes me an apology or has to face action. I will fight for justice & truth. I have all evidence to prove the interview. Here is a small glimpse. Unbelievable that Gujarat BJP President CR Patil can stoop down to to dent #journalism’s credibility. I challenge CR Patil to prove me wrong that I never interviewed him. Fighting for justice is not easy, especially in Gujarat, but I am determined to expose his lie. Please see this.

She said she had conducted this interview published on 3rd October on 1st September.

She tweeted: I am shocked to see Gujarat BJP President CR Patil lying. I met him specifically for this interview on September 1,2020 at Gandhinagar Circuit House. I spent 1.50 hours there. He said he does not know to speak English so the interview was conducted in Gujarati and English. 4 other people were present in his suite room when the interview was conducted. I had one question left but he said he had a video con(which he actually began); I should call him up after 2- 3 days. He said he was leaving for N Gujarat. Soon after, he was infected with #COVID19.In fact, two of his folders called me up after my interview was published & told me, that “Saheb has habit of bragging. Navsari Model is not his and he should not have said that I will aim for 182 seats and get at least 175 in Gujarat Assembly Elections. Saheb is displeased now”.

Hitting back, CR Patil tweeted: Are these the ethics of your journalism? First you fake an interview and then post and old conversation as proof? Your fight for so called justice; truth does not give you the license to manufacture fake news!

Patil said, the clip posted by a journo is a month old clip and related conversation was allready published in twisted manner. Patil tweeted: The clip you have posted is from a month back. You’ve already published that conversation after twisting my words.

Patil further tweeted: Day before yesterday when you called me for an interview, I refused it outright and our call did not last more than a minute!

Patil in another tweet asked why suddenly after one month, the interview was written? A month long await was for whom? Why interview was not published for one month? If I have spoken 175 instead of 182, then show it to the people.
