BJP declares candidates for 7 of 8-seat by-polls

Gandhinagar: 8 seats of Gujarat Assembly are going for by-polls on November 3. Ruling Bharatiya Janata Party(BJP) has today announced its candidates for 7 of 8 seats. BJP has not declared the name of candidate for Limbdi assembly seat yet.
8 seats are vacant due to resignations of then sitting Congress MLAs. BJP has fielded outgoing MLAs on 5 seats. They are Pradyumansinh Jadeja – Abdasa, Brijesh Merja for Morbi, JV Kakadia for Dhari, Akshay Patel for Karjan and Jitubhai Chaudhary for Kaprada (ST).
On two seats, Dang and Gadhda, BJP has not given tickets to outgoing MLAs. The Party has fielded former minister and former MLA from Gadhda Atmaram Parmar as its candidate on Gadhda(SC) seat. The party has fielded Vijay Patel as its candidate on Dang (ST) seat. Vijay Patel has been former BJP MLA of Dang.
BJP has not declared its candidate on Limbdi assembly seat, as the party is yet awaiting the name of candidate of Congress party. The party wants to field former MLA Kiritsinh Rana as its candidate, however if Congress fields Koli community candidate, the party would need to rethink its strategy.
