11 from Surat die in road accident at Vadodara highway; PM condoles deaths

Surat: 11 persons including 5 women and 2 children died and 16 were injured in mini truck – container truck accident on the highway at Waghodia circle bridge near Vadodara today morning. Those who died were from Varachha area of Surat city and were heading towards Pavagadh in Panchmahal district in a mini truck. There were total 27 persons in a mini truck that suffered accident. They were Saurashtra origin Ahirs settled in Varachha and Puna areas of Surat and involved in diamonds and textile industries.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi condoled the deaths and tweeted, “Saddened by the accident in Vadodara. My thoughts are with those who lost their loved ones. Praying that the injured recover soon. The administration is providing all possible assistance at the site of the accident.”
Chief minister Vijay Rupani tweeted, “Saddened by the loss of lives due to a road accident near Vadodara. Instructed officials to do needful. May those who have been injured recover at the earliest. I pray for the departed souls. Om Shanti.”
