Sufficient beds available for covid patients, 900 vans also on road offering services : AMC statement

Sabarmati: Amdavad Municipal Corporation (AMC) today in a note said, the cases of covid infection have increased recently due to breach of covid protocols, mobility of people to, from and within the city, and festival shopping.
A meeting at Sabarmati Riverfront House held here reviewed the situation and concluded that:
The city has availability of 7,279 beds across 7 government hospitals and 76 designated private hospitals. Out of this, as many as 2,848 beds (approximately 40 per cent of total) are vacant. At present, 2,347 beds in government hospitals and 501 beds in private hospitals are vacant.
Over 500 covid patients from other districts of Gujarat and also from neighboring states such as Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra are being treated in the city of Ahmedabad. Even after counting this, sufficient number of beds for covid in public hospitals such as SVP, civil Asarwa, civil Sola, other govt hospitals in Asarwa campus and 76 private hospitals are available.
900 medical vans are active in the city to offer covid related services. Of them 550 are involved in Sanjivani home isolation service, 150 are working as Dhanvantari mobile medical van. 100 vans are functioning for ‘104’ service and 100 for old-age services. There’s a medical van deployed per half square km area.
Free of cost covid testing facility is available at 200 places in the city including urban health centres, community health centres, steady and mobile testing kiosks. Such facility is available per 2 sq km area.
20,000 corona warriors are serving the citizens on day and night basis for covid management. They include health workers, medical, dental, physiotherapy and nursing students, doctors, para-medical staff, teachers and anganwadi workers. In addition to this, 5,000 health workers are serving in 76 covid designated private hospitals. Thus total 25,000 corona warriors are serving the city. It comes to one health worker per 275 people in the city.
More than 3,000 surveillance teams survey 1.8 lakh houses per day covering 10 lakh population. Since June – 2020, 18 lakh population has been covered.
Rumors regarding fresh lock down are baseless.
Meanwhile, AMC today in its daily bulletin said, the total number of active covid patients as on 11 am today was 2,847.
