Gandhinagar: Chief Minister Rupani today jointly awarded the state government’s Tana-Riri award for year 2020-21 to Padma Shri Awardee playback singer Anuradha Paudwal and Ms Varshaben Trivedi, who originally hails from Bhavnagar.
The winners were honoured with a cash prize of Rs. 5-lakh, a citation and a shawl.
The two-day long ‘Tana-Riri’ festival is being organized at Prime Minister Narendrabhai Modi’s Hometown ‘Vadnagar’ every year since 2003, with an inspiration from the Prime Minister.
The Tana-Riri festival is being organized with a view to keep their immortal music in people’s memory. Tana and Riri, two girls, were great-grand daughters of Adi Kavi Narsi Mehta.
The tradition to honour the accomplished female singers, musicians and instrumentalists was initiated since 2010 by the current Prime Minister Narendrabhai Modi.
