Gandhinagar: The Government of Gujarat has today decided to cancel the letter of Education department dated 25 June 2019. With this, around 65,000 primary teachers in Gujarat will continue to get higher pay scale grade of Rs. 4200. The State government had suspended the controversial letter in question with effect from 16 July 2020. The letter had suggested Rs. 2800 grade pay instead of Rs. 4200. The decision according to a note released by the State government, was taken at Chief Minister’s level in a meeting with Deputy Chief Minister and concerned ministers. Primary school teachers had launched hashtag agitation for 4200 grade pay on social media platforms recently. The Chief Minister has directed the Education Department to implement immediately the new order in consultation with the Finance Department and General Administration Department.
