Two-day Chintan Bethak of Gujarat BJP over weekend

Gandhinagar: Ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is holding two days long Chintan Bethak at State party headquarters ‘Kamalam’ starting from 7 pm today evening. A brainstorming meet will continue till Sunday afternoon.

The meeting is being held ahead of local body elections in the State that are likely to take place in the first quarters of the next year. This will be a big election season covering municipal corporations of six cities, scores of municipalities, district and taluka panchayat bodies.

The State is also going to witness by-polls for two vacant Rajya Sabha seats in next one month or so. By-poll for two seat will be held due to demise of then BJP MP late Abhay Bhardwaj and then Congress MP late Ahmed Patel. In case of separate polling for each seat, BJP can win both seats comfortably, which shall be a gain of one seat.

The meeting is being held on the backdrop of party’s shinning victory on all 8 assembly seats that went to by-polls recently. Party has concern that cadres must not be over confident after grand victory in by-polls.

The timing of this meeting also coincides with hectic organisational activities across the state for formation of page committees. State party chief CR Patil has said yesterday that page committees will be the reason of success of mission 182 in the next general elections of State assembly.

Chintan meeting is being held for the first time after Navsari strongman CR Patil’s appointment as State BJP president. Patil has recently formed and announced city and district office bearers of party but formation of his new state level team is in process and yet to be announced.

Gujarat is going to witness general elections of the State assembly exactly after two years.

The party has recently appointed Bhupendra Yadav as state BJP incharge (in continuance) and Sudhir Gupta as co-incharge(a new appointment). This will be first such meeting post these appointments.

Among those who are going to attend this brainstorming meet are Gujarat party incharge Bhupendra Yadav, joint-incharge Sudhir Gupta, state party chief CR Patil, Chief Minister Rupani, Deputy Chief Minister Nitin Patel and other top state party leaders. DeshGujarat
