Amit Shah becomes Page Pramukh, forms Page Committee

Gandhinagar: Union Home Minister, Gandhinagar Lok Sabha member and former national president of ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Amit Shah has become Page President for voters in Shivkunj society of Naranpura. Shah formed a page committee in Naranpura assembly seat area’s ward number 10, booth number 38.

State BJP president CR Patil while making this announcement today said, Shah has given inspiring example to lakhs of party workers by forming a page committee as page president.

Earlier Gujarat Chief Minister Rupani, Deputy Chief Minister Nitin Patel and scores of other Gujarat BJP leaders have become page pramukhs and presented list of page committees to State party president.

Patil had recently said that target of mission 182 will be achieved through page committees only. He said there’s competition going on between BJP cadres to form page committees. He had also said that Surat will be the first city in Gujarat BJP organisation to complete formation of all page committees of all booths. Patil has asked party leaders and cadres to complete formation of page committees within seven days.

Patil who became state party president early this year has asked party cadres and leaders to form page committees covering all booths. Page committee covers one page of voters’ list booklet issued by the Election Commission. Gujarat has 182 seats in assembly. Patil has announced target to win all 182 seats in upcoming year 2022 general elections of Gujarat Assembly.

These days, Patil can be seen freely retweeting tweets of party leaders and cadres who announce completion of page committee in their booths.

A common draft of page committee involves name of a voter, age, phone number, Aadhar card number, blood group and address. In some areas, caste has also been mentioned in page committee sheet. There’s dictation that page committee should be made diverse wherever possible, by including women, youngsters and representation of different caste groups too. In recently concluded by-elections of 8 seats, Patil had introduced first page committee lists with photographs. The same model has been adopted across the State now.

Gujarat is going to witness a big poll season involving polling for 6 municipal corporations, scores of municipalities, taluka and district panchayats in the first quarter of calendar year 2021. The State is also going to witness general election of State assembly after two years.
