Gujarat Professor becomes national president of ABVP

New Delhi: Prof. Dr. Chhagan bhai Nanjibhai Patel from Gujarat has been elected unanimously as national president of India’s largest students organisation Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP). Ms. Nidhi Tripathi (Delhi) has been elected unanimously as National General Secretary of Akhil Bhartiya Vidyarthi Parishad. The announcement was made today from ABVP Central Office (Mumbai). The tenure of both the above posts will be one year and both the elected representatives will assume office in the 66th National Session of December 25-26, 2020 in Nagpur (Vidarbh).

Prof. Dr. Chhaganbhai Nanjibhai Patel (CN Patel) is originally from Mahesana district of Gujarat. He completed his Phd in Pharmacy. Presently, he is working as Professor and Principal in ‘Sarvajanik Pharmacy College’ of Mahesana. He is also the founder and member of the Executive Board of the Faculty of Pharmacy of Gujarat Technical University. Under the International Experience Program, he had also visited Laurentian University Canada for subjects related to teaching methods, use of technology in education, etc.

He has published 42 research papers at international forums so far and have guided more than 23 students on various research topics related to pharmacy. He is also a member of the Pharmacy Council of India. He was also active in National Service Scheme (NSS). He played an important role in making students, teachers and entrepreneurs of the pharmaceutical sector of Gujarat collaborative and sensitive for different sections of society. For the last twelve years, he has given direction to the dialogue through the famous national level seminar “Pharma Vision”.

Since 1996, he has served for technical education and as city vice president, city president and state vice president. He was President of ABVP Gujarat State from the year 2013 to 2016 and National Vice President from the year 2016 to 2019. He has been elected as the National President of ABVP for this session (2020-21).

Ms. Nidhi Tripathi is originally from Pratapgarh district of Uttar Pradesh. She completed her BA from Allahabad University and MA, MPhil from Jawaharlal Nehru University, and is currently pursuing PhD at JNU. She is actively involved in ABVP since 2013.

Previously, She has represented ABVP as the presidential candidate in the JNU Students’ Union Election in the year 2017.

In the year 2016, she has been a leading voice in the student movement against the anti-India slogans in JNU and the ABVP’s mission to take on the all-India form of the “Mission Sahasi” campaign. In the year 2018, she has represented the Sri Lanka Yatra organized by the Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs, Government of India. As a researcher of Sanskrit literature, her papers have been published in various national and international seminars. She has been a dominant spokesperson on national issues and on the matters of students’ interest in the past. She has been re-elected as ABVP National General Secretary for this session (2020-21). She resides in Delhi.
