Dense areas in urban Gujarat to have Deendayal Clinics for free healthcare to poor at their doorstep

Gandhinagar: The Government of Gujarat will start Deendayal clinics in towns and cities of Gujarat with over one lakh population. Such clinics will be opened in dense populated areas during 4 to 9 pm on OPD basis. Those needing hospitalization will be referred to hospitals. Medical consultation and treatment in such clinics will be free of cost. The State government has asked municipal commissioners to identify places to set up such clinics, that are to be started in cooperation with state health department, municipal corporations and municipalities. Deputy Chief Minister Nitin Patel shared these details during his place visit to one such clinic in Ramdevnagar tekra area of Vadaj area in Ahmedabad. Patel said such infrastructure will offer medical services to poor people at their doorstep. He said urban health centres are already functioning and offering services. Only Ahmedabad has such 74 urban health centres. Deendayal clinics will offer health services to poor people who can’t reach urban health centres. Patel said Radevnagar area in Ahmedabad has 30,000 population and there’s plan to open five Deendayal clinics there.
