Rupani’s daughter, son-in-law arrive in Gujarat from U.K; tested negative for Covid

Gandhinagar: 1,720 persons arrived in Gujarat from European countries including United Kingdom during December 9-23. Out of them 11 were tested positive for Covid19, including four from Ahmedabad, two each from Vadodara, Anand, Bharuch, and one from Valsad. All are under observation, said the state officials on Sunday

The samples of these 11 persons have been sent for further investigation to Pune and Gandhinagar to ascertain whether the new strain was present. Results of genome study will be known in 8-10 days.

All flights from U.K. and Europe have been suspended since December 23. The Government has issued directives that those who arrived from these countries will need to stay under self monitoring during 25 November to 8 December period.

According to a note released by the State government, Chief Minister Vijay Rupani’s daughter Radhika, son in law Nimitt and grand son Shaurya also arrived in Gujarat from U.K. and they have been tested negative in RT-PCR tests.

The Government of Gujarat has initiated the process of testing 572 passengers who arrived from U.K. and Europe during 25 November to 8 December period. One of these passengers has been tested positive for Covid19. In addition to this 1148 persons arrived in Gujarat from these countries during 9 – 23 December period. 11 of them were tested positive. They have been kept in hospitals.
