India’s newest private airline Flybig starts serving Ahmedabad

Ahmedabad: A maiden flight of private air operator Fly Big Air landed at Sardar Patel international airport here. It was welcomed with water canon salute as per the tradition. The flight landed from Indore. It will connect Indore, Bhopal and Ahmedabad, with more routes to come, said SVPI Airport officials.

It’s worth noting that flybig is India’s newest airline and the first set of flights are between Ahmedabad and Indore. Regional carrier which intends to leverage the central government’s UDAN scheme to connect small towns has its hub in Indore. It is going to connect Indore and Raipur (from 13 January); Raipur and Ahmedabad via Indore (from 13 January); Ahmedabad and Bhopal (from 1 February). The airline is also operating between Delhi to Shillong since December, under a special agreement with the government.

The cheapest one-way fare between Ahmedabad and Indore for 22 January is Rs 1,864, while on the way back it is Rs2,645. flybig operates its flights through a fleet of ATR aircraft. The airline is smartly advertising its 2×2 configuration as “no middle-seat” flights. flybig will not sell food on board due to short distance of routes. The airline offers complimentary snacks to all its passengers.
