CM Vijay Rupani collapses while addressing a public meeting

Vadodara: Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani today collapsed and fainted while addressing a public meeting in Vadodara. Rupani was in standing position and on mic when he suddenly stopped speaking and lost balance. His body guard asked others to come to help and hold him. While others rushed to help, Rupani almost fell down on the surface of stage. The meeting was declared over and Rupani was taken for medical attention. Rupani had reached Vadodara at 6 pm and he was addressing third public meeting when this incident happened post 8.30 pm in public meeting in Nizampura area. 9.00 pm: Chief Minister has left Vadodara to reach Ahmedabad by air. Gujarat BJP chief CR Patil and Deputy Chief Minister/Health minister rush to SVPI airport. A team of doctor has also reached SVPI airport. As per primary details arriving, the Chief Minister collapsed due to hectic campaign schedule, tiredness and weakness. His Blood Pressure, Diabetes was found normal. He is being taken to UN Mehta heart hospital in Ahmedabad.

9.30 pm: Dr. Vijay Shah, Vadodara city chief of BJP and a doctor by profession who was also on the stage and assisted on-the-spot treatment of Rupani said: Chief Minister Rupani is touring for last many days. Then there was lot of election related works. We thought he had hypertension, hypoglycemia. He was laid down on the surface, his leg position was expanded and he felt relief. He sat down for couple of minutes. He was placed on chair. He was given glucose. He walked to car after five-seven minutes. At the airport his blood pressure was checked and found normal. He was given juice. His random blood sugar test was conducted and found normal. He was sent to Ahmedabad by air with SSG hospital’s doctor. SSG hospital’s medical van was present next to the stage.

9.40 pm: Gujarat BJP media convener in a communication said: Don’t pay attention to any rumor. Chief Minister’s health is good now. He suffered low blood pressure. After treatment given by doctor, his health is fine now. Low BP issue occurred due to hectic election related programmes, possibly due to tiredness and stress.

9.55 pm: The Chief Minister arrived at SVPI airport and choose not to sit in ambulance. There were more than one ambulances deployed at airport but the Chief Minister sat on the front seat of his regular car. He waved his hand at media comfortably sitting in car.

10.00 pm: Chief Minister’s tomorrow’s programmes are cancelled. State BJP chief CR Patil present at UN Mehta hospital. MoS Home Pradipsinh Jadeja travelled with Rupani from airport to UN Mehta hospital.

10.05 pm: Prime Minister Narendrabhai Modi speaks to Chief Minister Vijay Rupani over a telephone call and inquire about his health. The Prime Minister has advised the Chief Minister to undergo complete health check, be more careful and take proper rest: State Govt communication translated from Gujarati.

11.00 pm: A video has surfaced in which Chief Minister Rupani can be seen leaving the stage on his own without help and walking to his car, a few minutes after he collapsed on the stage reportedly due to low blood pressure. As per Dr. Vijay Shah, who is city BJP president and also a doctor by profession, the Chief Minister was given glucose on the stage after he collapsed, and he was OKay. He was place don chair and he left the stage and walked to the car on his own.

11.30 pm: It is learnt from UN Mehta hospital that CT scan report of CM Rupani shows normal parameters. His oxygen level is also normal. He may continue to rest in the hospital for 24 hours more.

12.50 pm (15 February):Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani has been tested positive for Covid19. His RT-PCR test report has been positive today morning. He has mild symptoms. His HCRT THORAX, IL-6, D-DIMER and Oxygen saturation parameters are normal. His situation is stable. These details were shared by Dr. RK Patel, Director of UN Meht Institue of Cardiology & Research Centre where Rupani was admitted last evening.
