No public participation in Bhavnath fair of Junagadh this year due to pandemic

Junagadh: Maha Shivratri fair of Bhavnath in Junagadh which was to start from March 7 this year has been declared canceled for this year due to the situation of coronavirus pandemic. The decision was announced today after a meeting of district administration, Junagadh Municipal Corporation and representatives of Saints at district collector office. As per unanimous decision, the pilgrims are asked not to come to the venue of fair. Facilities called ‘Utara’ for pilgrims will not be set up at the venue of Bhavnagath fair.
Religious ceremonies such as flag installation, march of sadhus, holy bath and puja etc will be performed as per tradition by sadhu saints only, but not in public presence. Every year over a million pilgrims gather on the foothills of Mount Girnar in Junagadh for five-day Bhavnath fair ahead of Maha Shivratri.
