Illegal call centre duping Americans raided, 13 arrested in Vadodara

Vadodara: City Police has raided an illegal call centre functioning in Dhyan Residency C tower flat number 102 in Harni area.

The raid was conducted by the Special Operation Group (SOG) of Police. A father, his two sons and 10 others allegedly involved in crime have been nabbed.

The accused would call American citizens and cough up money online from them by threatening them to trap in money londering and drug trafficking cases.

Police recovered Rs.6.42 lakh worth items from accused in the course of raid.

Accused Jayesh alias Mike Hargunani had roped in 10 telecallers from North East India. They were given laptops and placed in different rooms of same residential flat. The accused would contact American citizens and identify themselves as American Social Security Administration representatives.

Accused Jayesh earlier worked in Ahmedabad based call centre. He roped in his interior designer father Kamlesh and his B.Com passed brother Ishwar to start illegal call centre. Jayesh would pay Rs. 15,000 per month to staffers in addition to commission. Kamlesh and Ishwar would work as supervisors. The accused would cough up money from American citizens in the form of gift cards and supply pin number and number of gift cards to vendors.
