Sudden and blanket suspension of AMTS, BRTS buses cause inconvenience to many
March 18, 2021
Sabarmati: Sudden decision of suspension of the AMTS/ BRTS buses by Amdavad Municipal Corporation(AMC) with effect from 18th March, 2021 due to rising number of Covid-19 cases has resulted into inconvenience to commuters who are solely dependent on this mode of travel. Those affected are demanding that AMC instead of putting blanket ban, should keep the services going on with 50% capacity as city bus system is the only way of transport for many, and in absence of city bus/BRTS services, auto-rickshaw drivers are benefitting through monopoly and they are charging heavy fares.
AMTS/BRTS buses are the only way of transport for many ppl, specially who commute for earning their livelihood&for students. Suspending thm has created havoc in their lives&given chance to autowalas to loot them. @AmdavadAMC shld consider keeping services on with 50% cap. @CMOGuj pic.twitter.com/QNL5rprHMW

Suspending them has created havoc in their lives & given chance to autowalas to loot them. AMC should consider keeping services on with 50% capacity.
It is to be noted that 1122 Covid-19 cases including 3 deaths were reported in Gujarat yesterday following which AMC and later Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC) also suspended the city bus services. DeshGujarat
