Free passage time for drop increased to ten minutes; Adani Airports reverses earlier decision

Ahmedabad: Adani Airports in a statement today said, it has decided to increase the time limit for free passage to drop passengers. The time limit has been increased from 5 minutes to 10 minutes. The change in time limit will be applicable from midnight.

Worth noting that due to newly imposed five-minute time limit, rickshaws, taxis and cabs had started dropping passengers outside the entry toll booth of airport as they were not sure whether they would be able to return to toll booth within five minutes. Rickshaws, taxis, cabs would seek extra Rs. 90 from passengers in case the passengers don’t want to walk for a kilometer to airport and get dropped right outside the terminal.

A few years ago, when airport was under the Airport Authority of India (AAI), a five-minute limit was imposed but it was soon found impractical. After protest it was restored to ten minutes.

Adani Group has taken over Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel international airport’s management and operations last year. Adani Airports management has imposed steep hike in parking fare with effect from April 1st.
