Gujarat government releases advisory for usage of Remdesivir

Gandhinagar: Department of Health, Government of Gujarat today released advisory directing judicious and necessary usage of Remdesivir injection while treating Covid19 patients. Amid extreme shortage of Remdesivir injections, the State government has in its advisory opined that Remdesivir is not advisable in cases of mild or asymptomatic covid patients.
The government advisory says:
It should be administered when oxygen level is below 94, high-grade fever continue after three-four days of medication and treatment and C-reactive protein (CRP) level increase.
It should be administered in case of continuous loose motion with weakness.
It should be used in case of continuous viral cough. It should be used when a person feel tired even doing common activities and face breathing trouble.
It can be used when breathing is at above per minute 24 level.
It can be used when the age is above 50 and CRP, d-dimer, Ferritin figures increase due to coronavirus infection.
If x-Ray is normal initially but later Ground-glass opacity is detected.
When along with Lymphopenia, NLR is greater than 3.5.
In suitable cases, it can be administered only after experts of infectious disease, breathing experts, physician or child disease expert.
The people should not insist for Remdesivir due to fear of Coronavirus. It is not a life saving drug. It doesn’t lower the death rate or reduce the requirement of ventilator, or shorten the time of hospitalization. No such evidences are available. It is also unsure whether Remdesivir impacts viral clearance or not.
