2.5 crore vaccine doses ordered; fourth phase vaccination to start in first half of May: Rupani

Gandhinagar: Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani in live address over social media today said 1.20 crore people in Gujarat are vaccinated. So far over 95 lakh people have been vaccinated with first dose. He said the government has over 7 lakh doses of Covaxin and Covishield at present and more doses are to be procured from the Centre for vaccination of those above 45 age.

Speaking about upcoming fourth phase of vaccination for 18-45 age group, Rupani said those above 18 will be given vaccine for free of cost at government centres in the fourth phase of vaccination. The State government has ordered 2.5 crore vaccine doses for fourth phase – 2 crore doses of Covishiled and 50 lakh doses of Covaxin, he added. There are 6,000 vaccination centres across Gujarat, he said adding that fourth phase vaccination will start in first fifteen days of the month of May as soon as the stock is received, for which the government is employing all efforts.
