Photo of long queue for Dalwada goes viral as Amdavad receives rain; AMC shuts the shop

Sabarmati: After a photograph of long queue of people waiting for ‘Dalwada’ went viral, a team of Amdavad Municipal Corporation (AMC) today shut the shop. AMC has served notice to owner of Anand Dalwada centre located in Ankur complex of Naranpura area for violation of norms prescribed under the Gujarat Epidemic Disease Covid-19 Regulation 2020 provisions ( The Epidemic Disease Act 1897) for no social distancing maintained and gathering of large number of customers.

Dalwada is traditional food item that Amdavadis prefer to consume in rainy days. The city has been receiving rains for last couple of days due to impact of Tauktae cyclone, landfall of which was complete post midnight today morning in Saurashtra region.

While cyclone has topped the headlines, the State is also suffering from Covid19 pandemic. The State government has as per the guideline of union home ministry imposed day-time restrictions and night-time curfew. Any gathering with lack of social distancing can further spread Covid19 infection. A photograph of long queue for Dalwada has gone viral therefore. DeshGujarat
