Centre, private companies come to help of Gujarat govt for restoration of power in cylcone-hit areas

Gandhinagar: State Energy minister Saurabh Patel has through a press release conveyed thanks to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for assisting the State in task of power restoration in cyclone Tauktae hit areas of Saurashtra region.

Patel said, Una in Saurahtra and Union Territory Diu get power through 66 kv Diu substation and 66 kv Una substation. Both substations are supplied power through two seperate lines originating from 220 kv Dhokadva substation. The lines are 220 kv Savarkundla – Dhokadva line and 220 kv Timbdi – Dhokadva line. Due to cyclone of 17-18 May 66 kv lines connecting Dhokadva to Diu and Una and 220 kv lines connecting to Dhokadva have suffered heavy damages. As many as 23 towers of both lines were uprooted by cyclone. Restoring 220 kv lines is very time consuming procedure.

The Government of India has come to help for this task through Poer Greed of India. 156 staffers of Power Greed have arrived on the spot. The other 100 power staffers are being airlifted by Gujarat government from Kolkata.

Patel said, Adani will assist restoration of Jafrabad based 66 kv line and do works of 10 towers of Savarkundla – Jafrabad, 15 DP of Kansari – Una, 46 DP and 2 towers of 66 kv Kansari – Samter – Timbi. Sterline company will do works for 66 kv Kansari – Dandi line’s 4 towers, 66 kv Ksnari – Monosteel’s 8 towers and 66 kv Dhokadva – Rabarika’s 12 DP.

Ms. B& C will work for 66 kv Dhokadva – Nava Ugla’s 9 DP and Nava Ugla – Gir Gadhda’s 10 DP.

The State government has contacted various agencies, working on 66 KV lines in other States in order to take their help. DeshGujarat
