Tauktae cyclone: Gujarat govt seeks Rs. 9,836 crore assistance from Centre

Gandhinagar: Gujarat government has sought relief assistance of Rs 9,836 crore from the center under National Disaster Response Fund (NDRF) against losses caused by Tauktae cyclone that hit Saurashtra coast last month during 17/18 May.
A memorandum prepared by the State government has been sent to the Centre with all related details.
The Center had announced a package of Rs 1000 crore earlier after Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to cylcone hit areas last month.
As per a memorandum, Tauktae was stronger than earlier cyclones of year year 1975, 1982 and 1998. Tauktae impacted 23 districts of Gujarat and stayed in Gujarat for 28 hours.
The State government also sought additional Rs. 500 crore assistance under SDRF from the Centre. DeshGujarat
