Gujarat govt allows walk-in vaccination for all from June 21
June 18, 2021
Gandhinagar: The Government of Gujarat has taken a decision to allow on-the-spot registration at Covid19 vaccination centres and walk-in vaccination for all including those in 18-44 age group across the State with effect from June 21 after 3 pm. Such on the spot registration and walk-in facility is already available to 45 plus age group.
Those who have already registered for vaccine and received SMS will be given priority. Vaccination will be done as per availability of doses. Gujarat has so far administered over 2.15 crore dose of vaccines against Covid-19.
It’s worth noting that for last few days, at most vaccination centres including the busy ones like Tagore hall and Town hall in Ahmedabad, vaccine slots are available on real time basis due to lack of sufficient number of takers of vaccines even in 18-44 age group. The extra ordinary rush and non-availability of online slots has been now matters of past. Also the stock of vaccine has increased from manufacturers. In such scenario, the State government has not been able to reach its daily 3-lakh doses target. Though the central government had allowed on-the-spot registration weeks ago, Gujarat government had maintained the earlier position of vaccination only through online slot booking. Walk-in vaccination may also help in reducing the wastage of vaccine doses. While the government intends to administer at least first dose to maximum persons, there is lack of enthusiasm among people after the second wave of Covid19 pandemic has started declining.
