Ahmedabad Airport set up rapid PCR testing facility for Dubai bound passengers

Ahmedabad: The passengers going to Dubai from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport (SVPI airport) will need to pass through three phases of checks for Covid-19 infection.
Dubai will allow fully vaccinated residents to travel from India to the emirate from June 23. Passengers must hold a valid residency visa and have received two doses of a UAE-approved vaccine.
The Covishield vaccine, widely used in India, is accepted for travel to Dubai.
Travelers will need to present a negative result from a Covid-19 test taken within 48 hours of departure, and have a rapid PCR test four hours before their flight for which a Rapid PCR test centre has been set up at SVPI airport, report of which will be out in just 30 minutes after sample collected. A passenger will need to pay Dh223 (around Rs. 4,000 to 4,500) for this. SVPI airport in Ahmedabad has RT-Lamp (Reverse Transcription Loop Mediated Isothermal Amplification) test facility which is equivalent to Rapid PCR test.
Meanwhile SVPI airport in a reply of tweet stated: There are 2 types of testing which can be done at Ahmedabad airport –
-RT-PCR test – Cost INR 700 (as per govt approved rates ) and the report will be shared within 8-12 hours.
-Rapid Test – Cost INR 4000 (as per govt approved rates ) and report will be shared within 30 minutes. Both the above mentioned rates are government approved.
