Paresh Rawal announces his upcoming Gujarati film after 40 years

Mumbai: Actor Paresh Rawal has made announcement of his upcoming Gujarati movie ‘Dear Father’ which will be made under the banner of Venus Films. Rawal making this announcement on auspicious day of Rath Yatra (Ashadhi Beej) today said he is excited and he will be doing a Gujarati film almost after 40 years. He tweeted: So so excited ! Will be doing a Gujarati film almost after 40 yrs ! It’s based on my play “Dear Father “which was a runaway success ! Joining me on this endeavor is Ratan Jain ji ( Venus Films ) . Dear Father play is a comedy family drama with the story revolving around a 3-member family. A young married couple- Ajay played by Chetan Dhanani and Alka played by Mrinamayee Godbole and Ajay’s elderly father played by Paresh Rawal. The Mankad family in this play comprises of father, Mr. Manu Mankad, son, Ajay Mankad and daughter- in- law Alka Mankad. Ajay is a lawyer and Alka teaches Maths at a college. They live an average life with ‘average khusi and average ghum’ as Ajay jokingly puts it. They have their share of domestic squabbles but nothing to draw attention to. Behind this facade of a happy family however – are there secrets everyone is trying to bury? Is there a mystery waiting to be revealed? A puzzle waiting to be solved? Paresh Rawal appears in a double role. The play has been translated from the Marathi original play, KATKON TRIKON by Uttam Gada.
