Rupani discusses Rajkot – Ahmedabad semi-high speed rail project with Railway Minister

Gandhinagar: The Detailed Project Report (DPR) of Rajkot – Ahmedabad semi-high speed rail route has been prepared and sent by Western Railway to the Ministry of Railway which is in the final stage of consideration, said Gujarat government in a note released today.

A meeting was held between Gujarat CM Vijaybhai Rupani and Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav at Chief Minister’s residence here on Friday, July 16. The Railway Minister was here to attend the inauguration function of newly redeveloped Gandhinagar railway station. Rupani discussed proposed semi-high speed project with Railway minister during meeting.

The Semi-high speed rail route will make the connectivity of Rajkot and 11 other districts of Saurashtra with Ahmedabad convenient, quick, reducing traffic on roads and encouraging eco-friendly transportation. The 225 kms distance between Ahmedabad and Rajkot will be travelled in less than 2 hours of duration through this semi-speed railway having speed of 220 km per hour.

A release by the State government describes this project as a ‘dream project’ of Chief Minister Rupani whose home-town is Rajkot. The State government note informs that Railway Minister has assured full cooperation of Railways for the project. DeshGujarat
