Surendranagar: A couple from Kidiyanagar in Rapar taluka of Kutch has gifted their only son to the Vadvala temple on the occasion of Guru Purnima after fulfilment of their wish to get a child, as per the ancient tradition of Rabari community linked to this temple.
As per ancient tradition of Rabari community linked to Vadvala temple, couples who wish to get a child make a pledge/ ‘mannat’ to donate their child to the Vadvala temple in Dudhai village of Muli taluka, Surendranagar after their wish gets fulfilled. Two to three children are donated every year to the temple on the day of Guru Purnima.
On Guru Purnima occasion this year, a person named Jogabhai Somabhai Rabari gifted his son to the temple. The couple was unable to bear a child despite medical treatment and consultation at various places. They were finally able to bear a son after 16 years and they then donated that son to the temple.
The chief priest of the temple Rambalakdasji informed that the donated children are properly nurtured there in a religious atmosphere. The arrangements of their studies as per their interest are made. Many of these children have become doctors, lawyers, judges and businessmen. Until 21 years of age, education is given here by the Trust and then they are free to decide between being a monk or living a family life. DeshGujarat
