Survey of flood-prone Vishwamitri river to be conducted in full length

Vadodara: Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) will conduct a survey of flood-prone Vishwamitri River which passes through the city and prepare a Detailed Project Report (DPR) at a cost of Rs 4.82 crores. The survey of the river will cover entire length right from its origin in Pavagadh to end at gulf of Khambhat.
Rs 4.82 core tender for this will be finalized in upcoming Standing committee meeting of VMC for which Irrigation department will contribute Rs 1 crore, Vadodara Urban Development Authority (VUDA) will contribute Rs 2 crore and VMC will contribute Rs 1.80 crore.
VMC has been in correspondence with the Irrigation Department and VUDA for the project.
The survey will cover various aspects including the land records, digitalization and regulating the boundary of rivers, the data regarding under-ground and surface services, soil investigation, hydraulic survey, floods and steps to resolve the issue of flood, purification and revival of the flow of the river, pollution control, cost involved in proposed project, maintenance costs, the estimates of the modes of revenue, ways for rehabilitation of the slums, initiatives related to solar energy, rainwater harvesting and tree plantation, environmental effect evaluation, environmental approval and approval of central zoo authority etc. DeshGujarat
