Gandhinagar: A 101-km Vasad – Bagodara six lane State highway widening works are in progress and near completion, said R&B minister Nitin Patel today here. Patel said the works are to be completed in next one month on Vasad – Tarapur stretch. He said the Prime Minister will be invited to inaugurate this stretch as it connects South Gujarat to Saurashtra and offers link to Ahmedabad and North Gujarat. He said daily 35,000 vehicles pass through this stretch. Patel said two wheelers and passenger vehicles will not attract any toll on this road.

Six lanning of a 48 km Tarapur – Vasad highway has been 95 per cent completed, said Patel adding that the works included construction of flyovers and service roads. Out of 48 km stretch, flyovers occupy 21 km length, he added. Patel said previous contractor firm GVK company left the works uncompleted. The works were later handed over to two companies for two different stretches. Among them RK Singh company has completed 95 per cent work of Vasad – Bagodara stretch. This stretch will be ready in next one month.

Maintenance of this stretch for next fifteen years will be borne by the contractor firm that has done six-lanning work. DeshGujarat
