Rupani visits Vajubhai Vala to take blessings on birthday; says Vajubhai can never retire

Gandhinagar: It is Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani’s birthday today. He visited former Karnataka Governor Vajubhai Vala at latter’s residence in Rajkot to receive Vala’s blessings.

Both Rupani and Vala are from Rajkot. Rupani represents Vala’s former assembly constituency. Vala’s term as Governor of Karnataka was over recently. Vala is now working on an ambitious project of building a grand temple of Goddess Bhawani in Surendranagar district with efforts of his Karadiya Rajput community. The land for proposed Mandir project has been purchased already.

In reply to media query, Rupani said Vala would never retire. It’s worth noting that

‘Starting as RSS swayamsevak he worked in Jan Sangh and BJP for life. He can not be retired at all. He is active in different forms. He will think about party and party workers,’ Rupani said.

It’s worth not note that Rupani could become MLA as late as just five years ago on desired seat of Rajkot as Vajubhai Vala vacated it on his appointment as Governor of Karnataka. On past occasions, Vijaybhai had demanded ticket to contest the assembly elections more than once, but party continued Vajubhai Vala on that seat and therefore Vijaybhai couldn’t become MLA. Vijaybhai became State BJP chief, cabinet minister, Chief Minister and Rajkot MLA in very narrow period of time during which Vajubhai left the seat and shifted to Karnataka as Governor.

Vajubhai, post his retirement as Governor, has so far shown no political ambition. He has maintained the line that he will work as karyakarta (cadre) and do whatever work the party assigns to him.
