Suzuki Motors to scale down production in Gujarat plant due to shortage of semiconductors

Ahmedabad: Suzuki Motor Gujarat (SMG) will scale down production at its car manufacturing plant in Hansalpur, Ahmedabad this month due to the shortage of semiconductors, as announced by Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL) in its regulatory filing.
The production will be scaled down to a single shift at certain manufacturing lines in the Hansalpur plant of SMG. It was added in the regulatory filing that SMG will tentatively not carry out production on the three Saturdays (August 7,14 & 21) this month and certain production lines at the SMG plant may see temporary reduction from two shifts to one shift working.
SMG is a subsidiary of the Japan based Suzuki Motor Corporation. The SMG Plant in Hansalpur has three assembly lines operating with an installed capacity of about 7.5 lakh units per annum.
