GST inspector injures cop and complainant and flee after receiving bribe in ACB trap

Ahmedabad: A GST inspector caused serious injuries to two persons after he was trapped by Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) for demanding and receiving bribe of Rs. 3,000. According to ACB, a complainant who had paid bribe in a trap and a police constable who was witness to it were both rammed into by accused GST inspector’s car as he fled the place.

According to ACB note, a complainant had started business of Security Agency for which permissions from various government departments had been received. He therefore applied for GST number for his Security Agency business.

GST inspector Paresh Jagdishbhai Priydarshni had visited complainant’s office for on-the-spot verification in this connection and demanded Rs. 4,000 bribe initially. After some bargaining, accused GST inspector fixed Rs. 3,000 as final bribe amount.

As complainant was not willing to pay bribe, he contacted ACB, following which a trap was arranged. As per the instruction by ACB, a complainant called GST inspector to receive the amount of bribe at AMTS bus stand in Visat area of Ahmedabad city. Accused GST inspector received bribe in his Honda WR-V car GJ-18 BG 8512. As soon as ACB team members rushed to the car to nab the accused, he speedily drove his car and rammed into a complainant and a constable Viralbhai and caused injuries. ACB head constable Viralbhai was in role of a witness during the trap.

An accused thus ran away with bribe cash and destroyed the evidences. ACB is in process to file a separate complaint at Chandkheda police station against GST inspector Paresh Priydarshni.
