Two workers die due to asphyxiation in Gandhidham
September 06, 2021
Gandhidham: Two sweepers in Gandhidham town of Kutch district in Gujarat died due to asphyxiation after entering chamber of a sewage station without safety equipment. Police have filed an Accidental Death (AD) report as deceased were not sanitation workers but were pumping sewage from outside. While one fell in the chamber after he fainted and choked, the other lost life while attempting to rescue the first worker. Police have not filed FIR as workers had not entered the sewer and therefore the issue of lack of safety equipment didn’t arise. This is second such incident in recent weeks. Last month three workers were dead in similar incident in Bopal area of Ahmedabad. DeshGujarat
