Ford India to shut vehicle manufacturing at Sanand and Chennai plants

Gandhinagar: U.S. headquartered car manufacturer Ford India today made announcement to wind up its vehicle manufacturing operations at Sanand plant in Gujarat and Chennai plant in Tamil Nadu.
Ford India said, the company will progressively wind-down manufacturing for export at Sanand plant by quarter four of year 2021 and Chennai engine/vehicle assembly plants by quarter 2 of year 2022.
The company said it will continue engine manufacturing for export.
‘The sale of our current products such as Figo, Aspire, Freestyle, Ecosport and Endevour will continue only while we have them in our inventory,’ said Anurag Mehrotra, President of Ford India.
