SMC demolishes a mandir bloaking the road

Surat: Surat Municipal Corporation’s (SMC) Varachha Zone A team demolished a Ramdevpir mandir during the demolition around Nilkanth society in Kapodra area amid protests from local devotees and Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) cadres.
The demolition was undertaken yesterday for the construction of the route of the metro train in this area but on the occasion of Bhadarva Bij which is of great importance for the devotees of Ramdevpir, despite the appeal of shifting the demolition to another day. The mahant of this mandir cried after the demolition of this mandir. Around four members of Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) and Bajrangdal protesting this demolition were detained and pushed in police vehicle by the police. VHP has claimed that an intense protest will be done by them if the SMC won’t allot an alternative land for Ramdevpir Mandir.
According to Mahant, the mandir was about 50 years old and a notice for its demolition was issued just two – three days ago. The mandir was blocking a portion of one lane of this road. DeshGujarat
