Gandhinagar: The names that were in discussion for the post of Chief Minister of Gujarat on Saturday widely in the media included that of union cabinet minister Mansukh Mandaviya, union cabinet minister Parshottam Rupala, outgoing Deputy Chief Minister Nitin Patel, Agriculture minister RC Faldu, State BJP vice president Gordhan Zadafia and former minister of State for Home and current administrator of Diu, Daman, Dadra Nagar Haveli and Lakshadweep Praful Khoda Patel. Interestingly all names belong to politically active and influential Patidar (Patel) community. Rupala when asked by a private national news channel didn’t deny his was one of names in discussion. He said he would be hypocrite if he deny the fact. Others haven’t spoken with media. While discussing the names of possible new Chief Minister, all media houses cautiously mentioned that a surprise name can also popup at last minute. There were also speculations in the media that two deputy chief ministers will be made for caste balancing. Some also in their list of possible names of future Chief Minister mentioned minister of state Pradipsinh Jadeja and tribal minister Ganpat Vasava. Some rare also discussed possibility of Gujarati speaking non-Gujarati, actor turn politician union cabinet minister Smriti Irani (formerly Smriti Malhotra).
