Jamnagar: Gujarat CM Bhupendrabhai Patel today visited Dhuvav village of Jamnagar district – which is among the villages that are impacted highest due to the heavy rain and flood situation in the last 48 hours. The Chief Minister interacted with the locals about the damages and took stock of the situation.

CM Bhupendrabhai Patel assured the affected people about providing adequate relief to them by the state government. He stated that the government will make efforts so that none of the affected people remain excluded from the relief and their lives become even better than before.

Patel visited Ghunghav, Mahaprabhuji Bethak area and Lalpur road based Ashirwad society in flood-hit Jamnagar district. He held meeting with district officials. Later speaking to media persons he said, as many as 477 villages of district are affected due to heavy rains. Patel congratulated the district administration for its efforts and said that in addition to local teams, the other teams from outside the district will also be called for survey of damages.

Patel said 4,760 persons were shifted to safer places in the district. 144 persons were rescued through NDRF, SDRF and Air Force. 46 teams were working for survey. 84 villages experienced power failure. The administration has been asked to restore power supply today evening itself.

Teams from outside the district will be called for removal of bodies of dead animals and cleaning work, he said.

Jamanagar MP Poonamben Madam, former secretary Hakubha Jadeja, MLA Raghavji Patel, Mayor and other incumbents, Chief secretary Pankaj Kumar, Commissioner Vijay Kharadi, collector Saurabh Pardhi joined this visit.

Patel who took oath as Gujarat’s 17th Chief Minister yesterday is on visit to flood-hit areas of Jamnagar and Rajkot districts in Saurashtra region of Gujarat by air to review the situation and also to offer guidance to district administration. The Chief Minister left capital Gandhinagar at 1 pm. Jamnagar Lok Sabha MP Poonamben Madam and Chief Secretary Pankaj Kumar were accompanying him.
