Govt denies nod to Bhadarvi Poonam fair at Ambaji
September 16, 2021
Ambaji: Gujarat government has rejected permission to Bhadarvi Poonam fair at Ambaji this year. Pilgrim groups (Sangh) walking to Ambaji by foot have also been rejected permission.
In a letter to Collector of Banaskantha and chairman of Arasuri Ambaji Devasthan Trust. Pankaj Dave, Deputy Secretary of Home department instructed that those who have badha/akhdi, manta will also be allowed to enter the temple in limited numbers.
The copy of this letter has also been sent to State Police Chief DGP Bhatia and Superintendent of Police, Banaskantha district.
Bhadarvi Poonam fair at Ambaji could not take place last year also due to Covid-19 pandemic related restrictions. There was uncertainty this year regarding this fair as government had neither given nor denied nod to it. Many people had started walking to Ambaji in advance this year to evade any restrictions eventually. Gujarat is witnessing quite lower number of Covid-19 cases for last many weeks. However restrictions like compulsory mask wearing in public, night curfew in 8 cities and ban on holding mass events including fair are continuing to prevent third wave. DeshGujarat
