Gujarat govt announces mega vaccination drive on Sept. 17

Gandhinagar: Additional Chief Secretary of Health and Family welfare Manoj Aggarwal today informed media persons here that a ‘Mega Drive’ of Covid-19 vaccination will be held tomorrow on 17th September with an aim of completing 100 percent vaccination in 7500 villages of the state. More than 35 lakh beneficiaries are to be involved in this Mega Drive.

He added that the review of the preparation of the Mega Drive was done through video-conference with all the district collectors and municipal commissioners of the state. A pilot project of setting-up over 100 Deendayal medical centres will also kick off from tomorrow with an aim of making medical facilities available near the residence of labourers and poor people. The adequate quantity of medicines and free diagnosis and treatment will be made available at these centres.

He informed that the total vaccination doses administered in the state so far is 5.33 crores as of 15th September. Total 8,34,787 doses per million people are administered in the state. 100 percent vaccination of the first dose to the eligible public has been completed in 5,906 villages, 104 Primary Health Centres (PHCs), 14 Urban Health Centres (UHCs) and 17 talukas in the state so far.

There are a total 6 vaccine stores at zone level, 41 at district corporation level and 2236 cold chain points for the Covid-19 vaccines. There are over 12000 trained vaccinators in the state for the Covid-19 vaccination drive, he added.
