FOKIA suggests Ghaduli-Santalpur short route for Narmada pipeline
September 20, 2021
Bhuj: Federation Of Kutch Industries Association (FOKIA) has recently proposed to install a water pipeline of 150 MLD parallel to Gaduli-Santalpur National Highway in Kutch, in a letter to Gujarat Chief Minister.
FOKIA suggested that if the pipeline is installed parallel to Gaduli-Santalpur National Highway, then the Narmada water can be supplied to Kutch via a 295 km distance through four pumping stations. They have suggested that a project report should be officially created by the officers for it. This project will be a ‘Game Changer’ in upcoming time not only for the industries but also for tourism and conservation, they stated. It will also be cost effective for the government as per them. They have proposed a pipeline via Khadir, Khavda, Dhordo, Hajipir and Lakhpat parallel to Gaduli-Santalpur National Highway.
They added in the letter that there will be a hike in the demand of water in North and West Kutch due to the renewable energy park, bromine and cement industries. Over 200 industries of East and South Kutch get only one third of the approved quantity of water of 90 MLD by GWIL and GWSSB for ten years. The water demand of bromine industries is 70 MLD and 30 MLD will increase after the entry of new firms. The start of cement projects by Adani, Shri Cement and JSW in West Kutch will also have 30 MLD water demand. Dholavira will also add 10 MLD to the water demand of Kutch after being developed as a global-level tourist point. DeshGujarat
