Gujarat govt enhances assistance for losses due to heavy rains

Gandhinagar: The State Cabinet with Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel in chair here today reiterated the compassionate government’s commitment to stand by the cattle owners due to death of cattle, due to losses suffered in household goods and damage to hutments and houses due to heavy rains in Rajkot, Junagadh and Jamnagar districts. He issued directions to comply with the order.

Giving details of the important decisions taken at the meeting, Revenue Minister Rajendrabhai Trivedi and Education Minister Jitendrabhai Vaghani said that Chief Minister announced assistance to cattle owners of these three districts, in addition to the prevailing SRDF norms.

They announced additional assistance of Rs. 3,200 per family for loss to household goods, in addition to Rs. 3,800 as per SRDF norms, totalling Rs. 7,000.

Similarly, they announced additional assistance of Rs. 5,900 for losses due to damage to hutments in addition to Rs. 4,100 as per SRDF norms, totalling Rs. 10,000.

They announced additional assistance of Rs. 9,800 for losses to partially damaged pucca houses in addition to Rs.5,200 as per SRDF norms, totalling Rs. 15,000.

They announced additional assistance of Rs 6,800 for losses to kutcha houses in addition to Rs. 3,200, totalling Rs. 10,000.

They increased the assistance due to death of milch cattle to Rs. 50,000 per cattle from Rs. 30,000. Earlier, it was granted for up to three cattle head. It has been increased up to five cattle head now.

They increased the assistance due to death of goat and sheep also by Rs. 2,000 per animal.

The Cabinet also announced additional assistance of Rs. 2,900 for damage to cattle shed or manger, in addition to Rs. 2,100 as per SRDF norms, totalling Rs. 5,000.
