Munawar Faruqui’s stand-up comedy event cancelled after Bajrang Dal threatened disruptions

Surat: A private event management company has cancelled the program of controversial stand-up comedian Munawar Faruqui scheduled on 1st October in Sanjeev Kumar Auditorium in Surat after protests by Bajrang Dal.

The members of Bajrang Dal protested against the show of Munawar Faruqui to be arranged in Surat and they warned that they will chant Hanuman Chalisa amidst the show if it is not cancelled. They had also warned about beating up Munawar Faruqui in the show. ‘Two Joker Entertainment’ Event Management Company- organizer of the show cancelled it after the warnings and protests.

Bajrang Dal had insisted that they would buy all the tickets themselves and sit in the audience to have their ‘own show’ by reciting Hanuman Chalisa.

The controversial stand-up comedian Munawar Faruqui was arrested in Madhya Pradesh for his controversial statements about Godhra riots and Union Home Minister Amit Shah. He also uses abusive words for Hindu deities.

His other scheduled stand-up comedy events elsewhere in Gujarat including the one in Ahmedabad are also cancelled. DeshGujarat
