Farmers in South Gujarat get far better compensation over land acquision for expressway project

Surat: Total 1200 farmers from 32 villages of South Gujarat will receive greater compensation for their aquired farm land for the implementation of the Vadodara-Mumbai expressway project. State Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President CR Patil distributed cheques of total Rs 42 crores to 28 farmers from three villages of Bardoli taluka as compensation today.

Total 37 villages of Surat district are under land acquisition for expressway project. The redemption of over Rs. 1 crore per bigha is being awarded to them.

Total 612 hectares of land in Surat district is going to be acquired for this project, for which Rs 2200 crores sum is going to be paid. The farmers of three villages of Bardoli taluka namely Bhuvasan, Ninat and Nogama received Rs 42 crores today. State BJP president CR Patil said that the farmers received four times more redemption as they got Rs 42 crores instead of the Rs 11 crores as per previous provision.
