BJP wins 99 of 128 seats in Municipality elections across Gujarat

Gandhinagar: Ruling Bharatiya Janata Party has won the election of Thara Municipality in Banaskantha district of North Gujarat.

Out of 24 seats of Thara Municipality, 4 were won by BJP uncontested even before polling. 16 seats have been won by BJP after polling. Congress has won 4 seats.

In Okha Municipality election in Devbhumi Dwarka district of Saurashtra region, BJP has won 32 out of total 36 seats after polling while 2 were won unopposed. Congress has won 2 seats.

In Bhavnad Municipality election in Devbhumi Dwarka district of Saurashtra region, Congress has won 16 out of total 24 seats while BJP has won 8.

Thus out of total 84 Municipality seats that went for regular elections, BJP has won 62 seats while Congress has won 22 seats.

Out of 44 seats of Municipalities that went for by-polls, BJP has won 37 seats, while Congress has won 3 seats. Independent candidates have won 4 seats.

In total, 128 seats went for elections, BJP has won 99 seats (77.34 per cent). Congress has won 25 seats (19.53 per cent). Independents have won 4 seats.

None other party barring BJP and Congress has won any single seat in Municipality elections.
