Huge volume of water wasted as Methla Bandharo suffers breach

Bhavnagar: A huge volume of water was wasted due to breach in a wall of bund of a weir in Methla village of Talaja taluka in Bhavnagar.
The weir was constructed by the locals and farmers for preserving rainwater, claiming that the government delaying its construction. Due to the heavy rain, the weir was overflowed and its bund beside the sea was damaged due to which thousands of litre water was merged into the sea.
The weir was fully constructed with the public contribution without taking any aid from the government and various left-leaning NGOs had propagated as success of people’s efforts against alleged delay by government. The locals had earlier requested the authorities for repairing work of the bund besides sea, it is learnt. DeshGujarat
