A plane flies from Bhuj to Mumbai to mark anniversary of first commercial flight of India

Bhuj: A plane took off from Bhuj to enact the first commercial flight of JRD Tata today. It will land at Juhu airport in Mumbai at 4 pm today.
This is an attempt to replicate the first-ever flight from Karachi to Mumbai undertaken by the industrialist JRD Tata before 89 years on 15th October 1932. The flight today has taken off from Bhuj instead of Karachi which is now in Pakistan.
The pilot of the flight captain Aarohi Pandit flew solo over the Atlantic in 2019 in single-engine aircraft. She is flying Sinus 912 Pipistrel, the same aircraft she used to fly over the Atlantic. The distance of 926 kms will be crossed within a 5-hour duration.

This initiative is undertaken jointly by Tata power and Indian Women Pilot Association (IWPA). The flight took off from Bhuj runway which was rebuilt within 72 hours after being destroyed in the 1971 India-Pakistan War by the women of Madhapar village. These women of Madhapar village were felicitated on this occasion.
JRD Tata had carried 25kg of mail. Aarohi is carrying a special letter from Bhuj to the daughters of Mumbai. DeshGujarat
