Constable sent to Bhuj jail under PASA for beating up an old man

A police constable Bhavesh Rawal has been sent to a prison in Bhuj under PASA (Prevention of Anti-Social Activities Act) for beating up an elderly man with a stick in Ahmedabad in August 2021.

The accused police constable worked with CID crime. A shopkeeper Kanakbhai Shah residing in Mahasukhnagar society in Krushna Nagar had filed a police complaint in May 2021 against Bhavesh Rawal and two others namely Krushnakantsinh Chauhan and Bhargav Patel for threatening the chairman in a meeting of society. In August 2021, Bhavesh Rawal and Bhargav Patel along with their sons stopped an elderly shopkeeper at 11 pm when he was passing on his bike and brutally beat him up with stick and broke his mobile. The man was admitted to hospital due to serious injuries.

Krushnanagar police had filed a crime against the accused. The incident caused outrage among the residents of the society. The residents and leaders of society made appeals to the Government of Gujarat and state home department to take actions against the accused police constable. The police constable is sent to Palara jail of Bhuj.
