Vadodara Councilor receives threat for opposing illegal construction of mosque

Vadodar: Nitin Donga, Councillor of Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) and BJP leader has informed the Inspector of Gotri Police Station here that he has received a threat call on 21 October over his protest against illegal construction of a mosque in Tandalja area of city.

Donga in a letter informed the police that one mosque is being constructed by Chistia Trust near Patrakar char rasta in Tandalja area of city. He said he had received a representation that the mosque was being built without leaving margin space on the road-side. He said he informed VMC officials about same and on their visit to the spot, the officials confirmed that a 12 to 15 ft encroachment was being made in road-margin space. The officials had asked the office bearers of the mosque to remove the demarcated illegal construction voluntarily in seven days period, or VMC would do the task.

Donga said, on 21st of October at 8.21 pm, he received a mobile phone call from the number +1(971) 320-4595. He was given a threat on this phone call that ‘you have demolished a mosque and now we will demolish you’.

Donga said he told a caller that he would continue to work against any illegal construction and he cut the call. when contacted by media, Donga said he will continue to fight against illegal construction without fear. DeshGujarat
