Gujarat fishing boat attacked by firing of Pakistan Marine Security Agency; One fisherman dies

Porbandar: Pakistan Marine Security Agency (PMSA) opened fire at Indian fishermen who were in a Gujarat origin fishing boat namely Jalpari near International Maritime Boundary Line (IMBL) in Arabian Sea off Gujarat coast. One fisherman identified as Shridhar Ramesh Tambe who originally is from Maharashtra died in Pakistani firing. His dead body has been brought back to Okha in coastal Gujarat, confirmed Sunil Joshi, Superintendent of Police, Devbhoomi Dwarka district.

An offence of murder has been registered in Porbandar as the incident happened in sea beyond 12 nautical miles. More details are awaited on this development.

Indian boat Jalpari from border State Gujarat had started sailing from Okha in Devbhoomi Dwarka district of coastal Gujarat on October 25. The incident of firing by PMSA happened yesterday. Another Gujarat boat Padma was also there when this incident of firing occurred. Padma had started sailing from Veraval on Gujarat coast.

One of fishermen in Jalpari was hit by a bullet fired by PMSA and died. While Jalpari boat was abducted by PMSA from the open sea, another boat Padma has returned to Gujarat coast with a fisherman who was hit by PMSA firing. It is learnt that one more fisherman was injured in firing. He also has been brought back in fishing boat Padma.

The Indian government has released 10 Pakistani fishermen just four days ago. They were arrested for illegally crossing over to the Indian territory. Border Security Force (BSF) jawans had handed over the fishermen to Pakistani Rangers at the Attari-Wagah border last Wednesday.DeshGujarat
